Once planted, shrubs and trees will be around for decades, so
choose wisely. Be sure to select trees and shrubs that will grow well in
your climate. Your local nursery can provide you with the information you
need. Choose plants with healthy, vigorous top-growth that have a good
root system with no signs of disease, pests, or damage
tips
Prepare your
garden for the planting season by using a cultivator to scratch in a
3-inch layer of compost, rotted manure, and chopped leaves.
Rocks and
boulders in the landscape work well as an accent, but no matter how much
you water them - they never grow!
Dump "fish
fertilizer" over rocks to grow moss on them - but be prepared by
an invasion of local cats!

Scholls Farm & Nursery, Inc.
(Gardensforfun.com) is a family-owned and operated landscape construction
company and wholesale ornamental tree and plant nursery. It was started
in Portland, Oregon in 1934 as a one man landscape business. In 1968 the
company was moved west of Portland to its present location in the farming
community of Scholls.
The company was incorporated in 1985 and is a full-service landscape company
serving customers throughout northwest Oregon. It employs a crew of highly
experienced landscapers with modern up-to-date equipment and works year-round
despite the Northwest weather.
